Miniature Golf facts

 

An estimated 4 million Americans played miniature golf in the 1930’s on 50,000 miniature golf courses.

 

Tom Thumb fashions used the advertising phrase, “When you’re Lilli-putting on the Miniature Golf Course, remember your Clothes Technique!”

 

Tom Thumb jackets with berets sold for $19.50.  They were sold to the addicts of the Miniature Golf Craze.

 

Fall of 1930, the first National Tom Thumb Open Miniature Golf Tournament was played on Lookout Mountain.  Players from 48 states competed in playoffs.  A cash reward for $10,000 was offered.  200 players from 30 states competed for the winning title.
